Welcome to The Firm: Season 2

YOU may - or may not - have heard about The Firm: Season 2 - but that doesn't matter. What matters is that YOU are going to watch it on ntv7 when it starts premiering on August 2, 2008, because you do not want to miss the action and drama (oh, the drama!) that comes part and parcel with Malaysia's hit English reality TV show.

But first thing's first. What is The Firm?

According to Wikipedia: The Firm is Malaysia's first corporate reality television programme produced by Popiah Pictures and ntv7. Hosted by Peter Pek and Chan Boon Yong, the show is directed by award-winning director Ng Ping Ho of Kopitiam fame. In The Firm, a group of professionals compete in an elimination-style competition to find the next corporate high-flyer. The winner gets attractive prizes as well as a one-year contract with Tune Money, Asia's first 'no-frills' online financial service founded by Dato' Tony Fernandes (founder of budget airline, AirAsia). In addition to Pek and Chan, the other judge on the show is Tengku Zafrul Aziz, making it the only television show in Malaysia to have three millionaire judges.

The show attempts to separate the weak from the strong, the under-achievers from the over-achievers and the followers from the leaders. Each week, candidates compete in a series of tasks dealing with different disciplines in business that is imperative to the success of a corporate high-flier. Amongst others, these include branding, promotions, positioning and catering to target markets. The catch phrase used in the show is "You're terminated".

So anyway, since the first season was an incredible hit, The Firm makes a comeback with a second season - this time with 14 individuals vying for the top spot in this corporate game. With 13 episodes in the running, there's bound to be a lot of cat-fights, bitching, back-stabbing - but oh, let's not forget the good values like friendship, loyalty and honesty - when it comes to bumping the competition off the career ladder.

In the meantime, let's get acquainted with the contestants of The Firm: Season 2.

Back row: C.A., Terence, Yuen Wai, Ridzuan, Boon Yew, Chris and Kien You.
Front row: Jennifer, Joo Lee, Masami, Salasiah, Ain and Dian.

Did we mention that there were 14 contestants? Yes, we did. There's only 13 people though, if you noticed - that's because contestant No. 14 Anoop is MIA. Anyway, this was taken on July 23, 2008 - this was when The Firm 2 was 'unveiled' to the media during a press conference at C. Club, Pavilion KL.

There's a lot of things to be said about The Firm: Season 2 - and each and every one of its contestants - but all will be revealed in due time, as you take the time to watch how the corporate journey unfolds for this group episode by episode.

In the meantime, do keep an eye out for updates on this blog as we will be providing you with contestant profiles, trivia, photos as well as blog entries by the contestants themselves so you can catch all the dirt that went on behind the scenes - and in the hearts of our future corporate leaders in the making - which will not be available on the actual show. Stay tuned.

The Firm: Season 2 premiers on ntv7 on August 2, 2008 at 8.30pm.

Thanks "M for Madness". So kind of you in initiating this blog.

I guess The Firm 2 should adopt what Dunhill left off in the late 80's - "Gaya..Mutu..Keunggulan" as its tagline.

Watched the episode 1, last night... not much eye candy though... most of them a bit over weight (i mean the men)...

Anyway, I seen the first season, it was good.. but i think the they having a same problem as 1st season. The judge keep on changing their mind...

The first task was which team got the most customer satisfaction win. but at the end the team who got most customer satisfaction lose to the team got most sales.

hame.. seem this is a bit doggy though.. if the so call corporate leader always change their mind. where is their business ethic? atlease make it clear at first before the task been issued.

Or probarly their so call English not so good la...

Maybe next time they should make it clear (or maybe make up their mind) . what the 2 team competing for... i think both team are lost.. Customer satisfaction or Sales...

Peter Pek and Can Boon Yong. what do u guys want in the first place? Sales or customer satisfaction?

I agree... i think the teams were lost... they all mainly focus on the the task been issued to them - Customer Satisfaction... but turn of our 2 Corrrpooorate Leader change their mind...

I really feel sorry for the 2 teams...

wonder they read out from the script?

if so, then they should fire the script write

Unfortunately, while production has its own 'agenda' to spice up the drama, all of the contestants being unpaid actors did not have any script to read from. As for the 'glitch' in the winning criteria, that is not the fault of the corporate leaders but more of the client since they are the ones who changed the rules halfway without telling the contestants first.

Yes. I agree about the client are the ones who changed the rules halfway without telling the contestants first. But aren't Mr. B.Y Chan a client (c club founder)? Or he should thinking to rehire the new M.D of C club then.

How convincing this corporate leader being one of the judge looking for an apprentice for Tune Money then... He can't even hire a right people (who always changing her mind) for his own organization!!

I feel sorry for this week losing team. I think Lim Kok Weng University College person in charge for the event venue should take all the responsibility.

Tak pick-up the phone call some more... when the team leader call for respond. how professional is that.

Anoop is another looser. Just walk out like that? U think thats a Mamak store is it... I bet he will scare off loads of employer. Dun think any employer will hire this kind of looser.

Wonder the production house/ NTV 7 will take any legal action against him or not...

Shame on you Anoop

what you expect from this Anoop. He already appear like a wanker since the show start (the first task).

He should got earlier.
